Description:

LayR is a meticulously crafted synthesizer designed specifically for iOS devices, offering an impressive level of polyphony and timbral versatility. With its optimization for modern 64-bit CPUs, this app can generate a staggering 256 voices, each producing rich, multi-layered sounds with exquisite texture.

At the heart of LayR are its Performances, which serve as the primary sound components. Each Performance is comprised of Instruments, and each Instrument consists of Layers - essentially complete synthesizers unto themselves. The flexibility and depth of the synthesizer architecture allows for any number of Instruments in a Performance, each with its own MIDI channel and crossfading keyboard range. Moreover, each Instrument can accommodate up to 128 Layers, providing an exceptionally broad canvas for sonic exploration.

Within each Layer, there are dual oscillators capable of morphing between two shapes and phase states, as well as two state variable filters that impart warmth and richness to the sound. Additionally, there is a wave folder and a mixing section that allows for versatile blending of oscillators and filters in serial/parallel configurations.

The modulation capabilities of LayR are equally impressive. Two Low Frequency Oscillators can be utilized for frequency, amplitude, and phase modulation, adjustable across the entire audible range or locked to follow keyboard pitch. The synth also boasts two loopable ADSR envelopes with expansive time ranges, an amplitude ADSR envelope, and a random number generator with a smoothing filter. With built-in stereo delay, reverb, and EQ in the output section, LayR excels not only at emulating classic analog synth sounds but also at effortlessly conjuring massive pads and expansive ambient textures with extremely long evolution cycles.

This synth is particularly well-suited for keyboard players seeking a reliable mobile solution for live performances thanks to its seamless integration into any stage setup. However, it's equally at home in the studio, offering a versatile selection of included instrument and performance presets that can be easily accessed using MIDI bank select and program change messages, just like hardware synths.

Furthermore, LayR boasts nearly unparalleled flexibility when it comes to MIDI control. Each and every parameter within the synth engine can be assigned to any MIDI Control Change number, and it's even possible to group parameters across multiple Layers and control them with a single MIDI CC, with customizable range and direction.

In addition to its powerful synthesis capabilities, LayR features an 8-track, 16-step Arpeggio Sequencer that opens up a world of possibilities for creating intricate polyrhythmic patterns or even generating ambient music textures. Each track in the sequencer can be individually adjusted for speed, playback mode, and length.

Completing its arsenal of features, LayR includes a MIDI Controller Mixer for real-time control of the synth engine during performances. It can also transmit MIDI CCs from LayR's output port to other destinations, providing seamless integration into larger setups.

With full compatibility for IAA, Audiobus, Audio Unit, and Link, LayR seamlessly integrates with all popular hosts and other music apps on iOS devices as well as desktop DAWs.
